In the cases of both Hulu ( in the US ) and the BBC iPlayer ( in the UK ) companies cannot provide worldwide broadcasting primarily because they cannot guarantee that there has been synchronised release on all countries. Just a brief note on Hulu: the great difficulty for programme makers anywhere is that, in order to stay in business, they have to sell shows to broadcasters both foreign and domestic. #62726 - Sun, 19:58:00 Re: Vienna clip BANNED from YouTube! Personally I think that at least some bits of the so-called piracy is based on people not being able to listen to they favorite bands even if they would like to pay for it. Is this how you create sales potentials? IMO not - just look at how popular iTunes Gift Cards are, all bought by folks who want to spend *real money* for what they like to see and hear. This is as ridiculous as streaming TV shows via Hulu while at the same time telling people from abroad that they are not allowed to watch. On countless occasions, you see that music available in Canada is not in the US, is not in the UK, is not in Germany - and vice versa. available to *everyone* who would like to buy them. Having said all this, I am really fed up with an industry which does nothing but complain about piracy and copyright infringement while doing nothing to make music, videos etc. ![]() Of course, I also remember countless times where I really *wanted* to buy something, but could not get hold of it, because copyright, licensing or simple distribution issues got in the way. I cannot tell how many times I have seen things on YouTube which then led me to buy the respective audio/visuals. Sadly, most of the companies do vigorously defend their rights, having no clue how much YouTube and the likes help to SELL music and videos. but they should start to ask themselves where they would be without the fans? Without any doubt, the copyright holders have all the rights in the world. #62724 - Sun, 06:14:00 Re: Vienna clip BANNED from YouTube! PS: Isn't WMG: Warner Music Group? I thought EMI would control all Midge-era 'Vox originals. In that case, and if I was a copyright holder, I'd want to see people buying the video (either on disc or as a download through iTunes) rather than viewing it online for free. You also need to bear in mind that, as mentioned elsewhere in the Forum, the slew of 'Vox releases hurtling our way at the moment will likely include a new version of The (video) Collection at some point. That said, it may be that those copyright holders are intending to have an official online distribution channel.possibly even through YouTube itself. Not wishing to be controversial here but copyright holders are entitled to enforce their control of rights, if they so choose to. #62721 - Sat, 20:37:00 Re: Vienna clip BANNED from YouTube! The most wanted video they made is now no longer available on YouTube. I can not imagine Midge, Billy, Chris and Warren would agree with the action that YouTube took today. Soon I will upload the clip to other video hosting sites like Vimeo and Dailymotion. The last comment was send one hour before YouTube got mad and deleted my clip.Īt this moment there is only one place where people can watch my stereo version of 'Vienna', on my MySpace channel: YouTube also deleted all hunderds and hunders of wonderful comments to my 'Vienna'clip. When you search for 'Ultravox', you get 1270 clips. Why did they BAN my 'Vienna' clip? "This video is no longer available due to a copyright claim by WMG. The version on the DVD 'The Monument' is with mono sound. My version was the only one with -stereo- sound (edited by myself). They deleted my version of the 'Vienna' videoclip. Today an e-mail from YouTube made me very upset and angry. ![]()
